The Smith Family - for the love of the sport!

For over 42 years, the husband and wife team of Jeff and Patti Smith have led the Silver Spray Sports staff. And we do mean Team!  Jeff and Patti have not only dedicated themselves to the waterskiing industry as a profession, but have played an integral part in the participation of the sport.

Jeff is a highly experienced skier and a former Sea World show skier. He is best known as a National Ski/Barefoot Champion, winning back-to-back barefoot trick titles in 1990 and 1991 and the top slalom spot at the 2011 US Water Ski Nationals.  Jeff was the 2012 Michigan Water Ski Hall of Fame inductee, and he brought home a bronze medal for his slalom performance at the 35+ World Water Ski Championships held in Mexico.  Jeff also participated in the 35+ world championships in 2014 for the USA!!!!

Patti holds the prestigious position of being the first woman in the history of the sport to be chosen to drive Regional and National Barefoot Water Ski Championships (1979-1992) and two World Barefoot Championships (1988-1990).  Patti served as a long time board of directors member for the Michigan Boating Industries Association and has been Southeast Regional Director, Statewide Director, Board Secretary, Board Treasurer, Vice-Chair, and Chairman of the Board.  Patti was the 2019 MBIA Hall of Fame recipient, and was inducted into the Michigan Water Ski Association, as a 2021 Hall of Fame Recepient.  Patti is also a founding member of the Michigan Outdoor Recreation Advisory Council for the Governors Office, working under the past two Governors to improve outdoor recreation (and especially boating) for everyone in the State of Michigan!

This tradition continues today as their daughter, Whitney Smith-Burnash, won the 2019 Womens II National Slalom Champion (winning States, Regonals, and Nationals in 2019) and has also been a very major part of the Silver Spray Sports family since the day she was born!

This family's hands-on tradition is why as the saying goes, they don't just "talk the talk, they walk the walk" --------which makes them true experts in this business!

As we get ready to enjoy another year here on the crystal waters of Silver Lake, we are already excited about all the fun and festivities that were planned for Silver Spray Sports Summer of 2023. Unlike most inboard stores in the area, we are right on the water where all the action is all summer long.  We are only one mile west of US 23 Exit 79 (Silver Lake Rd.) in Fenton, making us the perfect destination for all your boating needs.
